The Annual Retreat of Holy Cross Church, Hospet was held on 22nd, 23rd, and 24th February 2026 and was preached by Rev. Fr. Pius D’Souza from the Shimoga Diocese. The retreat centered on the inspiring biblical theme: “There is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents” (Luke 15:10). The three-day spiritual gathering invited the faithful to reflect deeply on their relationship with God and encouraged them to embrace repentance, forgiveness, and renewal in their daily lives.
Throughout the retreat, Fr. Pius D’Souza delivered meaningful reflections that touched upon important aspects of Christian life such as family relationships, personal repentance, forgiveness, and the importance of living a Christ-centered life. His messages encouraged the faithful to examine their conscience, strengthen their faith, and rebuild harmony within their families and communities.
Each day of the retreat included moments of prayerful reflection, Eucharistic Adoration, and the celebration of the Holy Mass. These spiritual activities created a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere that helped the faithful experience a deeper connection with God. The retreat also included lively praise and worship sessions, which made the gathering engaging and spiritually uplifting for all participants.
A special highlight of the retreat was the prayer service dedicated to children in recognition of the Year of Children. During this moment, children were invited to come forward to the altar along with their parents, where special prayers and blessings were offered for their well-being, growth, and future. This meaningful gesture emphasized the importance of nurturing faith and values within families and the role of parents in guiding their children in the path of faith.
The Annual Retreat concluded on a spiritually enriching note, leaving the faithful inspired to live renewed lives rooted in prayer, forgiveness, and love. The retreat served as a powerful reminder of God’s mercy and the joy that comes from turning back to Him with sincere hearts.
