Feb 24, 2026: The Annual Retreat of Holy Cross Church, Hospet was held on 22nd, 23rd, and 24th February 2026 and was preached by Rev. Fr. Pius D’Souza from the Shimoga Diocese. The retreat centered on the inspiring biblical theme: “There is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents” (Luke 15:10). The three-day spiritual gathering invited the faithful to reflect deeply on their relationship with God and encouraged them to embrace repentance, forgiveness, and renewal in their daily lives.
Feb 15, 2026: Catechism Day 2026 was solemnly celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Hospet, on 15th February 2026. The event was jointly organised by the Parish Pastoral Council, the Commission for Bible & Faith Formation, and the Commission for Liturgy, Proclamation & Evangelisation. The occasion served as a thanksgiving celebration for the abundant blessings received throughout the catechetical year by the children, teachers, and faith formators who diligently contributed to the smooth conduct of catechism classes.
Feb 15, 2026: A significant and grace-filled moment was witnessed at Holy Cross Church, Hospet, as the foundation stone for the new Calvary Mountain Project was solemnly laid within the church premises. This project, has been generously sponsored by Mr. Ronald Dcunha of Infant Jesus Ward. This noble gesture is his heartfelt offering of gratitude for the graces and favours he believes he has received through the intercession of the Holy Cross.

Feb 01, 2026: Holy Cross Church, Hospet, reverently celebrated Confraternity Sunday on 1st February 2026, marking the day as a profound occasion of brotherhood, community spirit, and spiritual renewal. The celebration began with an inspiring address by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Gregory D’Souza, who highlighted the true meaning of Confraternity Sunday, emphasizing it as a day that calls every parishioner to live in unity, service, and mutual care as one family in Christ.
January 28, 2026: As part of the preparations for the Annual Parish Feast, a church cleaning service was carried out on 28th and 29th January 2026 at Holy Cross Church, Hospet. The service included removal of cobwebs, cleaning of the church premises, and wiping and cleaning of the statues, making the church ready for the upcoming feast.
January 25, 2026: The Annual Catechism Examination was successfully held on 25th January 2026 at Holy Cross Church, Hospet. All catechism students from various classes participated in the examination with sincerity and discipline.
January 25, 2026: The 7th Sunday of the Word of God (Bible Sunday) – 2026 was celebrated with deep reverence and devotion at Holy Cross Church, Hospet. The faithful gathered in large numbers to honour the Holy Scriptures, recognizing the Word of God as the guiding light of Christian life.
January 16, 2026: A meaningful act of solidarity and support was extended for Horekanike to St. Patrick’s Church, Siddakatte, in preparation for the Blessing Ceremony of the renovated church scheduled on 21st January 2026.
January 18, 2026: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Hospet Unit, successfully organized “Nakli Nesna Spardho” and “Reel Spardho”, an online photo and reel fancy dress competition on Saints, for the children of Hospet Parish. The initiative was conducted with the aim of nurturing faith, creativity, and confidence among children, while helping them learn about the lives and teachings of Saints in an interesting and engaging way.
On January 4, 2026, during the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Diocese of Mangalore officially inaugurated 2026 as the “Year of Children”. Unveiled by Bishop Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha during the Diocesan Eucharistic Procession, the initiative is centred on the theme: “Amchim bhurgimballam, Devachya Razachim follam” — “Our children are the fruits of God’s Kingdom”
The New Year Celebration for the year 2025–2026 was solemnly observed on 31st December 2025 at the parish with deep spiritual fervour and joyful participation of parishioners. The celebration comprised Eucharistic Adoration, the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the Parish Pastoral Council, and cultural activities organized by the ICYM Unit at the conclusion of the Holy Mass.
Hospet: 24th December, 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Christmas Eve, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Hospet Unit joyfully celebrated Christmas along with the parishioners of Hospet Parish.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Gregory Dsouza, Parish Priest, along with Rev. Fr. Roshan Pinto and Rev. Fr. Dony Cardoza.
Hospet: 08th December, 2025: The prize distribution ceremony of the Elocution Competition for the parishioners of Hospet was held with great enthusiasm and reverence. The competition was successfully conducted by the Catholic Sabha, Hospet Unit, with the objective of encouraging effective communication skills and fostering confidence among parish members.
Hospet: 11th November, 2025: The Catholic Sabha Hospet Unit held its one-day annual picnic on 11 November 2025 at the picturesque Silent Valley Resort, Kalasa. A total of 16 members participated in the outing, accompanied by the parish priest, Fr Gregory D’Souza.
Hospet: 9th November, 2025: The parish community of Hospet came together on 9 November 2025 to honour St Sebastian, celebrating the feast with devotion, joy, and long-held tradition. The solemn celebration was led by Fr Vikas Pereira, with Fr Gregory D’Souza, the parish priest, joining him at the altar.
Hospet: 19th October, 2025: The parish community came together in great faith and unity on 19 October 2025 to celebrate Mission Sunday, a day dedicated to supporting the missionary works of the Holy Catholic Church. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist, solemnly offered by Fr Gregory D’Souza, who emphasized the importance of prayer, generosity, and active participation in spreading the mission of Christ.

The celebration included the blessing of the new crop, solemn Eucharist, felicitations, and the joyful sharing of blessed corn, sugarcane, and fruits, reflecting unity and gratitude.
