Christ is Risen! Holy Cross Church, Hospet Celebrates the Glorious Easter Vigil 

Hospet, April 4, 2026: The faithful of Holy Cross Church, Hospet, gathered in large numbers to celebrate the Easter Vigil, the most sacred and solemn liturgy of the Christian calendar, marking the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

The Eucharistic celebration was solemnly presided over by Fr. Dony, while Fr. Gregory, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, concelebrated the Holy Mass. The celebration began outside the church with the Blessing of the New Fire, symbolizing Christ, the Light of the World, who dispels the darkness of sin and death. The Paschal Candle was then lit from the blessed fire and carried into the darkened church as the faithful joined in proclaiming, "The Light of Christ."

The liturgy continued with the Blessing of Holy Water, after which the congregation was reverently sprinkled with the newly blessed water, recalling their Baptism and renewing their commitment to live as faithful disciples of Christ.

In his inspiring Easter homily, Fr. Dony reflected on the victory of Christ over sin and death, reminding the faithful that the Resurrection is a message of hope, new life, and unwavering faith. He encouraged everyone to become witnesses of the Risen Lord by spreading love, forgiveness, peace, and compassion in their families and communities.

The solemn celebration concluded with the joyful celebration of the Holy Eucharist as the church resonated with hymns of praise and the triumphant proclamation of "Alleluia", marking the end of the Lenten season and the beginning of the Easter celebration.

The Easter Vigil at Holy Cross Church served as a profound reminder that through Christ's Resurrection, darkness is transformed into light, despair into hope, and death into everlasting life.
