Fourteen Children Receive Their First Holy Communion at Holy Cross Church, Hospet  

Hospet, April 26, 2026: Holy Cross Church, Hospet, witnessed a joyful and grace-filled celebration as 14 children received their First Holy Communion, marking an important milestone in their Christian faith and sacramental journey.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Gregory D'Souza, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, Hospet. He was joined by Fr. Melwyn and a guest priest, who concelebrated the Holy Mass.

The church was beautifully adorned for the occasion as the First Communicants, dressed in white attire symbolizing purity and innocence, participated prayerfully in the Holy Eucharist. Surrounded by their parents, godparents, family members and parishioners, the children received the Body and Blood of Christ for the very first time, making the celebration a memorable and spiritually enriching experience.

In his homily, Fr. Gregory D'Souza emphasized the significance of the Holy Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life. He encouraged the children to remain close to Jesus through regular participation in the Holy Mass, prayer and the Sacraments, and urged parents to continue nurturing their children's faith within their families.

The liturgy was enriched with meaningful hymns, Scripture readings and active participation by the children, adding to the solemnity and joy of the celebration. The parish community joined in congratulating the First Communicants and prayed that they would continue to grow in faith, love and service to God.

The celebration concluded with words of gratitude to the catechism teachers, parents and all those who helped prepare the children for this special day.
