A significant and grace-filled moment was witnessed at Holy Cross Church, Hospet, as the foundation stone for the new Calvary Mountain Project was solemnly laid within the church premises. This project, has been generously sponsored by Mr. Ronald Dcunha of Infant Jesus Ward. This noble gesture is his heartfelt offering of gratitude for the graces and favours he believes he has received through the intercession of the Holy Cross.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gregory Dsouza, who led the gathering in prayer and invoked God’s blessings upon the project. The parish community gathered in large numbers, united in faith and joy, to witness this historic and memorable occasion.
The ceremony was marked by meaningful symbolism. The foundation stone was placed along with a Holy Rosary, a Cross, a trowel, and a commemorative letter prepared to mark the occasion. Fr. Gregory Dsouza formally read out the letter, declaring the day as a historic milestone in the annals of the parish. The document stands as a testimony to the faith, generosity, and unity of the parish community.
Joining Mr. Ronald Dcunha and his family were the Parish Priest, members of both the outgoing and newly appointed Pastoral Council, Finance Committee members, and parishioners. In a symbolic gesture of unity and shared responsibility, each person placed cement on the foundation stone, signifying their participation, support, and commitment toward the successful completion of the project.
The project is being executed by Mr. Walter Pinto, proprietor of Walter Corporation, one of the premier providers of grottos, shrines, and sanctuaries. He has already presented the outline and overview of the Calvary Mountain Project, which is designed to resemble the popular grotto of Mount Mary, Bandra. Mr. Walter Pinto was also present for the foundation stone laying ceremony.
In his address, Fr. Gregory expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Ronald Dcunha and his family for their generous and noble contribution. He appreciated their spirit of thanksgiving and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon them. He also thanked the parishioners for their enthusiastic participation and unity. Concluding his message, he expressed hope and confidence that the Calvary Mountain Project would soon become a beautiful and inspiring spiritual landmark for the faithful.
