The Catechism Year 2026–27 was solemnly inaugurated on 7 June 2026 at Holy Cross Church during the Holy Eucharistic Celebration. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gregory D’Souza, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church.
The theme chosen for the inauguration was “Let the Little Children Come to Me” (Matthew 19:13-15). As part of the meaningful liturgical celebration, parents accompanied by their children, representing all the children and parents of the parish, approached the altar. Catechism teachers also came forward to signify their commitment to faith formation.
A symbolic rite was held during the celebration. Catechism teachers stood on both sides of the altar along with their respective students. A child dressed as Jesus stood near the altar welcoming the faithful, while another child carrying a branch followed behind, symbolizing growth in faith and discipleship.
During the ceremony, both parents and catechism teachers publicly renewed their commitment and promise to guide and nurture children in Christian faith, values, and spiritual formation. The solemn pledge highlighted the shared responsibility of families and catechism teachers in helping children grow closer to Christ.
The inauguration marked the beginning of another fruitful catechetical year, inspiring children, parents, and teachers to journey together in faith, prayer, and Christian living.
