Hospet: October 19, 2025: The parish community came together in great faith and unity on 19 October 2025 to celebrate Mission Sunday, a day dedicated to supporting the missionary works of the Holy Catholic Church. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist, solemnly offered by Fr Gregory D’Souza, who emphasized the importance of prayer, generosity, and active participation in spreading the mission of Christ.
As a sign of gratitude for God’s blessings, the faithful brought a wide variety of offertory items, most of which were lovingly grown or produced in their own farms. The offerings included seasonal fruits, fresh vegetables, tender coconuts, plantains, homemade produce, and other farm goods, reflecting both the richness of the land and the devotion of the parishioners.
Following the mass, the parish witnessed the much-awaited traditional auction, a practice cherished for generations. Items such as bunches of tender coconuts and plantains, a hen, fruits, vegetables, and fresh milk were arranged for bidding. Parishioners participated enthusiastically, turning the event into a lively and joyful display of community spirit.
Fr Gregory D’Souza and Mr Valerian Cutinha led the auction with enthusiasm, encouraging active involvement from everyone present. Their spirited interaction kept the atmosphere vibrant as families and individuals joyfully placed their bids.
Mission Sunday concluded on a note of gratitude and fellowship, with the parish community once again demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Church’s mission through faith, unity, and tradition.
