Faith, Fun and Formation: Three-Day Summer Camp Inspires Young Minds at Holy Cross Church 

Hospet, April 15, 2026: A vibrant three-day Summer Camp for the parish catechism children of Holy Cross Church, Hospet, concluded successfully with an enjoyable picnic at Rivershine Resort, Mulki, leaving the young participants enriched with valuable life lessons, cherished memories and renewed friendships.

The camp commenced on April 13 with a creative inaugural programme held at the parish hall. Fr. Gregory D'Souza, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, inaugurated the camp as the Chief Guest and encouraged the children to make the most of the opportunity by growing in faith, discipline and character.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr. Vivian Colaco, Vice President of the Pastoral Council, Mr. Pascal Nazareth, Secretary of the Pastoral Council, Mr. Winston Sequeira, Coordinator of Commissions, Mr. Deepak Cutinha, Coordinator of Catechism, Mr. Denis Fernandes, catechism teachers and other parish leaders, who expressed their appreciation for organizing such a meaningful initiative for the children.

The two-day camp was animated by Br. Rajath and Br. Joel, who engaged the children through interactive sessions, motivational talks and creative learning activities. The resource persons addressed a wide range of topics, including the importance of developing good habits, overcoming negative behaviours, effective study techniques and practical methods to enhance learning.

A special highlight of the camp was the session on healthy relationships, where the children were guided on building respectful relationships with others, understanding appropriate social boundaries and using proper forms of address with elders and acquaintances. The sessions encouraged participants to communicate respectfully while developing confidence and good social values.

The camp also featured a variety of group activities, team-building exercises, action songs, creative competitions and fun-filled games, each thoughtfully designed to impart valuable moral lessons, leadership qualities and the spirit of teamwork. The lively atmosphere kept the children actively engaged throughout the programme while reinforcing Christian values in an enjoyable manner.

The Summer Camp concluded on April 15 with a picnic to Rivershine Resort, Mulki, where the children, teachers and volunteers enjoyed a day of recreation, fellowship and outdoor activities. The picnic provided an ideal conclusion to the camp, strengthening friendships and creating lasting memories among the participants.

The parish appreciated the dedicated efforts of the organizers, resource persons, catechism teachers and volunteers whose commitment ensured the success of the three-day programme. The Summer Camp once again reflected Holy Cross Church's commitment to the holistic formation of children by nurturing their spiritual, moral, social and personal development in a joyful and engaging environment.
