Holy Cross Church Celebrates Women's Day; Marks Silver Jubilee of Hospet Women's Forum 

Hospet, March 22, 2026: Holy Cross Church, Hospet, celebrated International Women's Day with great enthusiasm at the Parish Hall, bringing together women from the parish for a day of inspiration, appreciation and fellowship. The occasion also marked the inauguration of the Silver Jubilee (25th Year) celebrations of the Hospet Women's Forum, making the event even more memorable.

The programme was inaugurated by Fr. Gregory D'Souza, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, who emphasized the invaluable role of women in the family, the Church and society. In his inaugural address, he appreciated the selfless service and dedication of women and encouraged them to continue being beacons of faith, compassion and leadership in their communities.

The event was graced by Ms. Ashwini D'Souza, Counsellor and Advocate, Moodbidire, who served as the Resource Person for the day. Delivering an insightful and engaging session, she spoke on the importance of women's empowerment, emotional well-being, family values, legal awareness and personal growth. Her practical guidance and interactive presentation were well received by the participants.

The celebration was further honoured by the presence of Mrs. Sabitha Lavina Rodrigues, President of the Moodbidiri Varado Women's Forum, and Mrs. Wilma Crasta, Secretary of the Moodbidiri Varado Women's Forum. Also present were Mr. Vivian Colaco, Vice President of the Pastoral Council, Mr. Pascal Nazareth, Secretary of the Pastoral Council, and Mr. Winston Sequeira, Coordinator of Commissions, who extended their support and appreciation to the Women's Forum.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing wisdom, hope and the pursuit of knowledge. As part of the celebration, several members of the Women's Forum were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated service and valuable contributions to the parish community.

A special highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Hospet Women's Forum, commemorating 25 years of committed service, faith formation and community involvement. The milestone was celebrated with gratitude, acknowledging the efforts of past and present members who have strengthened the ministry over the years.

Adding colour and joy to the occasion, members of the Women's Forum presented a variety of cultural and entertainment programmes, showcasing their talents through songs, skits and other performances. The lively presentations reflected the spirit of unity, creativity and fellowship that characterizes the parish community.

The Women's Day celebration concluded with a fellowship meal, providing an opportunity for participants, guests and parishioners to interact and celebrate together. The event served as a fitting tribute to the contributions of women and reaffirmed the parish's commitment to promoting their dignity, leadership and active participation in the life of the Church and society.
